Another Book Hangover accepts review request in all works of Fiction in a variety of genres including Romance (Historic, Contemporary, or Paranormal), Young Adult, Steampunk Science Fiction, Paranormal and Fantasy. Other genres will be equally considered so please use the form below for consideration.
The majority of the reviews of books on this blog are selected by the blogger’s personal library although review copies are accepted from major publishing houses, eBook publishers and from self publishing authors (pretty much anyone we love to find new indie authors!).
Another Book Hangover will review books in a timely manner; however delays might occur in some cases (Life and work do interfere in mysterious ways with reading time), and for that I apologize in advance. I will do my best to honor all requests submitted.
Another Book Hangover accepts reviews copies in hardback/paperback, mobi, PDF or epub formats only.
Another Book Hangover will try to remain as objective as possible, bearing in mind that it all comes down to personal likes and dislikes of the reader, so let’s be honest; being objective without being tainted by them is tough. All books will be read with an open mind. I will endeavour to explain any reasons for possible negatives and in the cases of the books submitted for review we will also provide a small synopsis.
I reserve the right to decline review requests at any time, for any reason. I only accept books that I think I will enjoy.
I will always try to be honest and respectful in my reviews. I do not guarantee I will love every book. If I’m having difficulty getting through your book because it is not my style, there may be a chance I will not finish it and/or not review it. Therefore, accepting your book for review does not guarantee a review will be posted on my site.
In my reviews, I will include the following information:
- cover art
- the book’s details: title, author, if it is associated with a series, publisher, publication date
- links to purchase the title from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, as well as a link to the book on Goodreads
- a synopsis of the book, taken from Goodreads
- my review
- a starred rating, one to five
All reviews posted on this blog will also be posted on Goodreads and Amazon.
6 Hearts – One of the BEST books EVER!
This is one rating that will not be given a lot—only to the truly special books. This is a book that had it all; complex and stunning characters; amazing, unpredictable, unique, and intriguing story line without any inconsistencies that hooked us from page one. It had a flawless writing style that enhanced the story and kept us interested cover to cover. All around a perfect book that will stay with us for a very long time, if not forever! Definitely one to be re-read a million times.
5 Hearts – Amazing
Near Perfect! Buy 2 copies one for you and one for your friend. This book had an incredible story line, with complex and well-rounded characters that made it impossible to put down. The story was unpredictable, intriguing, and gripping. The writing style was consistent and well-developed in a way that drew us further into the story. This is another book we will re-read down the road..
4.5 Hearts – Loved it
A great book that kept our interest, it had a well-developed story line and intriguing characters, but it was lacking something to make it perfect. It either had grammar and/or editing mistakes that were too many to ignore, and therefore were distracting to the story, or we just couldn’t connect with the one or multiple of the characters.
4 Hearts– Really liked it
Buy it now and put this author on your watch list. Even though the story line was intriguing, we had a hard time putting it down, and really enjoyed the book—something was missing. Kind of like a first date that lacked something to make you want to go on a second one. This book will mostly have quite a bit of room for improvement. Usually, the story was too predictable, too mundane, or the characters were too two-dimensional and we couldn’t relate to them.
3 Hearts – It was okay
This rating means that the book neither made us fall to our knees and thank the powers above for an amazing read, nor did it makes us cringe and yell profanities for being bad. It was somewhere in the middle. An enjoyable read, but nothing that made our heart race with anticipation. We most likely also have had issues with the writing style, the character development, or the editing.
2 Hearts – I finished it, but struggled and in the end just wasn’t for me
Library/swap/borrow – A rating that won’t happen often because we normally have an uncanny ability to pick up amazing reads, but if you see this rating it means this book was hard to get through. The plot was either unrealistic, the characters flat, and it was a struggle to get through. Mostly, it means, even though we finished the book because we’re too OCD not to, that it just wasn’t for us.
1 Hearts– Did Not Finish (DNF) or decline to review
