I received an advance readers copy of this book from the author for an honest review. This was the first book I have read by Lisa Kessler and I was pleasantly surprised. As anyone who knows me knows I love Paranormal romance and tend to read way to many of them. With a thunderstorm heading my way tonight I decided to pull this book up on my kindle to read and planned on a lovely evening listening to the storm pass by and reading. I was quickly pulled into the story and even though this is the seventh book in the series it was not that hard to follow where and how characters were linked together. Ms. Kessler introduces you to a wonderful world where werewolves are moving side by side with humans in Sedona, Arizona.
“He caught my chin, his thumb brushing my bottom lip. “I want to get to know the woman, the wolf, standing in front of me right now. I don’t care who she could have been – you’re a survivor and that’s more than enough for me.”
(spoilers may accidentally slip out if you read further I tend to go on and on when I enjoy a story like this read at your own risk)
Raven and Luke are two wonderfully developed characters that you can not help but want to root them both on as they try to find their place with each other and in the werewolf world.
Raven Wood was pulled into the Sedona Pack and then changed against her will. While later she ended up pulling her older sister, Isabelle, into the pack also. Now they both are trapped in a sadistic pack. As Raven tries a daring escape to warn another pack about an attack from her back she finds Luke Reynolds. Luke was the youngest in his pack and left Reno to find his own way as the head horse trainer on a local ranch and longing for his mate after all in his original pack had mated.
Raven is a strong character that proving that she can handle her own. After being changed against her will and forced to live with the Alphas two body guards. She becomes trapped when her sister’s safety is held against her continued good behavior. At least until she meets Luke who respects her and shows her how a true wolf pack should interact.
Luke is determined to find his way. As the only un-mated male left in his pack he left them behind to become the head horse trainer on a ranch in Sedona. After finding Raven he wants to help her and the other innocents in her pack before he recogonizes her as his mate. Will these two make it? Will Luke be able to infiltrate the pack and save them? There are so many questions and I don’t want to spoil it for you.
This story will have you on the edge of the seat as Luke and Raven are pulled more deeply into Sedona pack than they ever wanted to be. There were a few times where I wished that scenes were described a little further than Ms. Kessler did but as a quick read it is excellent. A few times during the story I was a little confused as to how characters which I assumed from other books in the series interacted. If the series was read in order I am sure that this would be an excellent addition. A quick evening read I highly recommend this read and look forward to reading more on the Reno pack.
