Robin’s Thoughts
Rough was the first book I have ever read by Sybil Bartel and the cover and summary of the book was personally *I know but dang it look at it* what hooked me into being interested enough to read. This book was one that after reading the first two pages I could not put it down. A fun read that you will thoroughly enjoy and will leave you wanting more when I got to the last page I was like no there has to be more! As I started this story I thought that the sex was going to overpower the story but boy was I surprised Ms. Bartel was able to skillfully interweave both and lead you on a surprising journey that will tug at your heart strings. This is a fantastic read with a well developed backstory which allows this story to flow so smoothly. This was a sexy quick read that I finished in a single sitting as I didn’t want to put it down. The character interactions are off the charts and I will soon be looking for more books Ms. Bartel has written as I may be becoming a new addict. The multiple POVs in this story were not distracting as they tend to be with some writer and only led to a more developed understanding of the depth of her characters.
Sienna Montclair is a red-headed preacher’s daughter who is innocent, hard-headed and strong. She was looking to forget her previous boyfriend who had treated her like garbage despite being a professional Quarterback for the team Sienna worked for. Sienna wanting to just numb herself and move on so she then contacted her first male escort. Afterwards when she agreed to meet him again is when Jared Brandt, a dominating ex-marine, male escort, and sexy wounded soul entered the picture doing a favor for a friend. These two develop feelings for each other quickly as their worlds collide. Jared a true alpha with an arrogant personality that you will either love or hate. Can he become a reformed male escort? Does he even want to? Ms. Bartel was able to pull off building a relationship while keeping scenes HOT HOT HOT!! *yes I meant all the caps* Jared enjoys the need to control and has zero patience for weak people but when he meets Sienna he can not suppress his basic need to protect his client even if it is from himself. Her personality and beauty instantly attract him and he finds himself drawn to her and unable to stay away. Sienna knows it is Jared’s job to make her feel like she does when she is with him she can not find it in herself to put any distance between them. The sports angle doesn’t distract from this and enriches the banter between all characters. These two will have you jumping in your seat as you wish whole-heartedly for them to get their acts together, SOON!

It was fucking perfect. I hated her and I wanted her. I hated her because I wanted her. Women were disposable. They had to be.
I’m not your boyfriend. I’m not the guy next door. I don’t even play nice was how Sybil Bartel described Jared and as you sit back and watch this story evolve you will fall just as much in love with Jared as I did. I am off now to recover from this book hangover.
